Reading Notes Week 11: Epified Krishna Part A
- The ruler of Mathura, Kansa, was very evil
- One day, a voice told Kansa that his sister Devaki and her husband Vasudeva would have 8 children, and the 8th would kill him
- Scared, Kansa threatened to kill the couple but ended up putting them in jail
- Just to be sure, Kansa killed the first 6 children the couple had
- The 7th child was moved to the womb of another woman
- On the night that the 8th child was born, the gate to the jail cell was unlocked, and something told Vasudeva that it was okay to leave
-Vasudeva traveled through the night and exchanged the boy with a girl in a house in Gokul
- When he returns, Kansa comes to kill the child, but the child transforms into a goddess and ridicules him for attempting to kill her because his nemesis had already been born
- Meanwhile, Krishna grows up as a cowherd in Gokul
- As a child, he is very naughty and steals butter and eats mud
- One day, Yashoda catches him eating mud, but when he opened his mouth she saw the whole universe
- Several demons sent by Kansa come to try and kill Krishna, but he easily defeats them every time. Even Indra put in all her might to kill him, but he lifted a hill to protect the rest of the people. She apologized to him
